You may have heard by now that there are some rule changes for 2021. Many listed in the attached document are very minor and geared toward refs. Please take your time reviewing the 81 page document 🙂 However, there are two big ones everyone should be aware of:

  1. There are no more let serves. If a served ball hits the net coming over, you must play it on the bounce. If it lands in the kitchen or out of bounds, it is still no good. But anything in the green on the service side square is now playable.
  2. You can drop serve the ball. That means that you can drop the ball and serve it off the bounce. None of the rules for below the navel or upward motion or below your wrist are applicable. This is a CHOICE, so you can continue to serve as you have always done. Or you can mix it up.
