Now that we have installed our latest Board member, we are excited to shift our focus toward the replacement project of the four original pickleball courts. Once completed, these will match the surface and quality of the two newer courts. General Manager, Jim Whitmore is anticipating a project work date from mid-March until sometime in May.

As shared in the October Board meeting minutes previously, this is a complete ‘redo” – not just a resurfacing job. Everything from the end of the fencing on courts 1 and 2 to the retaining wall behind the back bushes will be removed. The existing planter and covered space in the social area will be preserved. All of the asphalt and walkways will be regraded and replaced. Courts 3 – 6 will be demolished down to the grade, re-graded to slope and drain correctly and then rebuilt with the more cushioned surface. The project includes removal of the rear wooden seating/boardwalk and bushes. Removal of these items will allow us additional space to provide a vastly improved patio-style seating area in the back. In addition, all current fencing around courts 3-6 will be removed and replaced.

This is a POA maintenance project. Therefore, they are overseeing the work. Spencer Brown and his crew from CF will complete the demo and some additional work. Whalen Company will complete the rest. This is the same contractor who built courts 1 & 2. This project could be impacted by weather, contractor/material difficulties and/or supply chain issues. Any or all of these could cause delays. We just won’t know some things until they happen. These are not things within our control.

The Board will be meeting on Saturday, February 19th to work on a proposed plan for how best to share two courts among up to 200 members. Once we complete this proposal, it will be shared with club members and feedback obtained. It will also go to Jim Whitmore for his input and support. Following the feedback period, the Board will revise the plan and send it out in its final form. Once the project begins and the plan is implemented, we will remain flexible and open to feedback about how it is working. Changes will be made in the best interest of the majority of those in the club.

We will also be working on disseminating information regarding alternate venues in which to play. There are MANY in our immediate area. Please make us aware of others that we do not include.

We know that this will be an inconvenience, but if we all work together, we will make it through to the other side and enjoy the beauty and functionality of our new facility!!
