Jose Galan (vjg66@yahoo.com) has agreed to offer a round of clinic sessions in May. The registration for each individual session will be available on a first come/first served basis on Sign Up Genius as the dates roll out. Participants can sign up for any session of their choosing. Clinic topics will be included on the registration post. Space for ten participants will be included in each session.

Since we have a large number of newer/novice players, this round of clinics will be focused on them. If you are a more “seasoned player” or attended last year’s clinic on a certain topic, please do not sign up again. We appreciate your help with this.

Below is the list of topics and the dates they will be offered. You can sign up for one or multiple sessions. If you do register and then you are not able to attend, PLEASE DELETE your reservation using the confirmation email sent to you via Sign Up Genius. That way someone else can take advantage of the opportunity to attend.

All sessions will take place on Courts 5 & 6. Each clinic is approximately one-hour in duration followed by court time to play and apply your new skills. There is no rain plan if weather cancels a class:

Session 1 Monday, May 22 1-3pm – Serves and Returns – Learn how to start the game, and how to return the ball to set up play.  Types of serves, strategy and desired locations will be covered.

Session 2 Tuesday, May 23 1-3pm – Third Shots (Drops/Drives/Lobs) – These critical shots will take your game to the next level, and learning them will be the trick up your sleeve!

Session 3 Wednesday May 24 1-3pm – Drives/Fifth Shots/Blocks – Learning these shots are a real game changer! Learn how and when to use them.

Session 4 Tuesday, May 30 2-4pm – Dinking It’s what the game of Pickleball is all about! If you don’t know how to dink, then you aren’t playing the game!

Session 5 Wednesday, May 31 2-4pm – Resetting the Point – This is where we will learn how to change the speed of the game. Once you understand the importance of slowing down the game, and how to put the brakes on the tempo you will start learning that YOU are in control!

Session 6 Thursday, June 1 2-4pm – Game Strategy and Shot Selection Understanding that every shot you make has an impact and an effect on the next shot will help you determine what shot to use. Don’t worry, you don’t need to be Einstein to learn how to use strategy to rattle your opponent!

Session 7 Friday, June 2 2-4pm – The Ball Machine – Did you know that the club has a ball machine? We do and now is your chance to learn how to access it, set it up, and operate it. Drills and suggestions for use will also be included. Now you or your group will have a new way to practice!

As a reminder, if you are interested in individual skill development, our certified instructor, Deb Richter, is available to provide those lessons/classes for a fee. She is currently making remarkable progress on her recovery from hip surgery and most likely will be available to teach sometime in June. You can contact her directly with all inquiries. sacredspace2003@yahoo.com
